Materials that connect the next step
Fraction Classroom helps Grades 3–5 teachers prepare a complete lesson, respond to a specific misconception or plan a connected unit. Lessons, short interventions, interactive models and anonymous group records work without an account.
How the materials are made
The materials are original, AI-assisted content. Closed fraction calculations use exact integer arithmetic. Open explanations have question-specific criteria and a valid sample response for a teacher to review; an automatic score cannot judge the quality of a student’s explanation.
New interventions, unit assessments and diagnostic companions use the same structured content for their webpages, printable pages and downloadable HTML files. Student files and teacher answers are generated separately. The original lesson PDFs remain available as version 1.0.0; the version 2.0.0 diagnostic companion adds updated rubrics, teaching responses and next steps.
These materials have not yet been field-tested in classrooms. Check their fit for your students and use their explanations and exit work to decide what to revisit.
Curriculum references
Connections refer to the public Common Core fraction standards. They are alignment notes, not an official endorsement. Grade 5 division tasks focus on a unit fraction divided by a positive whole number, or a positive whole number divided by a unit fraction.

We also studied Illustrative Mathematics Grade 4, Unit 2, Lesson 4 as a reference for connecting fraction strips and number lines and responding to student thinking. Our tasks and teaching text are original; this site is not affiliated with Illustrative Mathematics.
Using and keeping materials
Materials are free to use for classroom preparation and instruction. No public redistribution license has been assigned. The original PDF edition was prepared on October 4, 2026; diagnostic companions, interventions, units and model investigations were added on October 13, 2026.
For new materials, choose A4 or Letter and download student or teacher HTML. Open that file in a browser to read offline, print or save as PDF. Unit group records use anonymous codes and stay in your browser; download a CSV to keep a copy.
